Through all his competitive experience in sport Brian cites his training off the field and out of the ring, as his key to success.

“I have been fortunate enough to own my own business and be my own boss. However, anyone can tell you I am many things before I am business man.  I’m an experienced and knowledgable exercise scientist and  athlete with a passion for improving people’s overall well being through physical excellence. I believe simple measured human movement with an infinitely scalable progression is the path to that physical excellence. CrossFit provides the tools necessary for obtaining physical excellence by way of a supportive community, well structured physically demanding task oriented workouts and a superior  level of  instruction focused on a balance of safety, motivation and most of all… Fun.
At CrossFit Explode we don’t judge our success by numbers in a bank account. We judge success by our athlete’s performance numbers on a whiteboard. The standard of success is set by the those who know which numbers truly matter to count.”

Ty has loved being active since he was a little kid.  He would always be running around outside, jumping off of anything he could manage; climbing trees and walking on his hands.  Throughout grade school, he never seriously played or pursued any sport.  Instead, he was a band geek!  Fourth grade through high school graduation, he was an active snare drummer in the drum line. Music was and still is one of his passions. However, Ty never lost his love for physical activities, but his experience with them was limited to playing games outside with friends and acting like an idiot (his mother would say).  He never did any traditional weight lifting and was never a member of any globo gym.  He tried a few home workout dvds but still yearned for something more.

Ty was exposed to CrossFit through a friend of a friend. Once he tried it, he new this was what he has been looking for and he was finally able to give his passion for human movement a name.  His first workout was in September 2010 and he has been doing it ever since. In July 2011, he received his CrossFit Level 1 Trainer certification.  Ty’s favorite quality about CrossFit is the community.  He loves the people that participate and enjoys when new members come in.  If there is one thing that Ty would say to someone who was unsure about CrossFit, it would be that “Anybody can do it!”

B.B.A Finance James Madison University 2007

Associates in Applied Science Delaware County Community College 2010

West Chester University RN to BSN 2012

Lauren has been active in sports since starting gymnastics at the age of 6.  She played soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse through middle and high school; loving the team and competitive aspect.  Lauren feels sports has prepared her for life and showed her the importance of nutrition and exercise.  Having tried many different exercise programs after high school and through her time at James Madison University, Lauren heard about CrossFit in 2007.  After many questions and much research, Lauren decided to give it a try in 2008, the same year she started nursing school.  Lauren feels that CrossFit is the most efficient and effective way to exercise, anyone can do it, and it’s FUN!  Whether it’s the competitive aspect, the desire to optimize health, or to have fun; CrossFit offers something to each individual, at any age.
Lauren joined CrossFit Explode in February 2011 when she knew the next step was to CrossFit with the people in the community that were just as passionate, dedicated, and disciplined about the sport.  “My love for helping others started with nursing and has continued with my coaching at Explode.  My goal is to create healthy and happy individuals through CrossFit.”

B.A English-Secondary Education Susquehanna University (2009)

Cody has been athletically active and involved in a wide variety of sports throughout his life.  Cody is a graduate of Avon Grove high school where he played Football, Basketball, and Baseball.  After High School, he attended Susquehanna University where he continued to pursue his football career at the collegiate level, while also obtaining his Pennsylvania teaching certificate in English-Secondary Education.  Cody teaches 10th grade English at nearby West Chester East high school, coaches the Vikings offensive line in the fall, is the freshman basketball coach, and also runs the strength and conditioning programs for both teams—which incorporates many aspects of CrossFit!

Cody joined CrossFit Explode in the fall of 2011 and has completed his CrossFit Level One, CrossFit Olympic Lifting, and CrossFit Kids certifications.  He has been training athletes since June of 2011.

“Working as a teacher has provided me with a great skill set to be a coach and trainer.  I understand the importance of meeting the needs of individuals, and I try to bring that into my approach as a CrossFit trainer.  CrossFit is one of my greatest passions.  Working out and being a part of the community at Explode is something I look forward to every single day.  That being said—I really feel like the greatest reward CrossFit has given me is the ability to show others what I know, and to show them that they are capable of doing things that they never thought were possible.  CrossFit gives you confidence, makes you mentally and physically stronger, prepares you for the challenges of life, and because it is inclusive to everyone everywhere, it is undoubtedly the most fun and rewarding training program I have ever experienced.  I’ve seen what CrossFit does to help people better themselves, I’ve seen the way this sport brings people from every walk of life together, I’ve witnessed time and time again the successes of these individuals and it is truly remarkable.”

SEAN KELLEY[email protected]
Beards
CrossFit Level One Certified (November 2012)

At a ripe young age, fitness was the last thing on Sean’s mind, yet it came as second nature. Born and bred in the lush forests of Connecticut, Sean spent a majority of his youth navigating treacherous terrain, ascending towering trees, scaling cliff faces, and maneuvering river rapids to name a few. Sean’s earthly upbringing was put on hold when he decided to join the military after high school. There he spent 7 years serving all over the world. His fitness morphed from a once functional forest regime in to a mundane system of lifting weights in a mirror. When his military obligations were complete, he still yearned to encompass what he once had. Soon there after he discovered Crossfit. It brought him back to that primal state from which he was forged and the rest is history. He then grew a facial forest (beard) of his own as tribute to his woodland friends and the flourishing habitat from where he once came.

CrossFit Level One Certified (March 2014)
Paige Henry has been an avid crossfitter for 4 years now. After years of commercial gyms and traditional workouts, she decided to change it up and give crossfit a try. After her first workout, Paige immediately fell in love. Paige recently got her crossfit level 1 certification in 2014 and couldn’t be happier being a coach at CrossFit Explode. The past four years hasn’t been an easy journey for Paige. She has spent endless hours at the gym working on strength, skills and extra metcons. It is said at Explode that nobody works harder! That hard work has paid off for Paige as an athlete and affords her the ability to coach others.

“I’ve always wanted to play a role in changing peoples lives, and crossfit gives me that opportunity. Being apart of the crossfit community has opened my eyes to seeing what’s possible through fitness. And I’m thankful for what it is I do every day!”

In January of 2012Casey started coaching and competing.  He competed in the Mid Atlantic regional competition both with a team (2012) and as an individual (2013).
